Humble beginnings

Henk Berg began more than 25 years ago as a family run workshop on the island of Tasmania in Australia. For more than a quarter of a century, notable Tasmanian craftsman, Henk Berg, handcrafted each Henk Berg product from natural vegetable tanned leather for a limited number of discerning clients.

Throughout the years, appreciation for the look and feel of natural saddle hide and a growing demand for handcrafted leather combined with durability and style have grown the one man workshop into a thriving family business that distributes worldwide.

Each Henk Berg product is designed with to meet high standards of aesthetics, durability and functionality. Size, shape, pockets and straps are carefully considered to provide maximum efficiency, comfort and convenience. Seams are double-stitched where reinforcement is required. Henk Berg only uses the best quality leather, chosen especially for strength, character and grain. Our specialized method of curing the hide brings the natural markings to the surface. Like fingerprints the each bag has different grain patterns and characteristics,  making every Henk Berg product original and unique.

Innovations in leather finishes, new grains and colors have made the Henk Berg range comparable to any of the best products on the market, but we still remain faithful to the look and feel of natural saddle hide.

Design Philosophy

The Henk Berg design philosophy comes from Henk's belief that "in our throwaway society discerning individuals are searching for durability and quality". Although Henk Berg has greatly expanded from it's humble beginnings, the company still maintains the highest standards of workmanship and materials. And while our products are now made all over the world, we work hard to obtain the best designs, value and quality for our customers. Workshops

Due to growing demand, Henk Berg works with some of the world's finest leather craftsmen, to make our exclusive leather bags. All our leather products are designed by Henk and handcrafted from vegetable tanned hides. Dyeing, oiling, waxing and hand finishing are still done personally by Henk in Tasmania, while our workshops cut and assemble the product, supporting our craftspeople and providing our customers with a unique and affordable product.
